Carisi, who comes from a large family, sometimes assists Rollins with the baby.
Eventually, however, Rollins comes to see the victim as a human being, and is instrumental in bringing her rapist to justice. While having dinner with the victim to apologize for her behavior, Rollins admits that her prejudice against escorts stems from a former boyfriend cheating on her with one. In "The Book of Esther", she uses deadly force during a hostage situation with a religious cult. Afterward, she finds out that she fired the shot that killed one of the cult members, a young woman she had tried to save from her abusive father, the patriarch of the cult.
She is wracked with guilt, but finds some comfort in going to church. In "Man Up", she reveals to Benson that she is pregnant with her second child. Also, she meets up with Dr. Al Pollack, her ex-boyfriend, for a lunch date and prepares to tell him about her pregnancy, but bolts out when she sees him flirting with a waitress and becomes unsure of balancing her second pregnancy with raising Jesse and with her work at SVU.
In "Zero Tolerance", she considers getting back together with Pollack and tells him she is pregnant. I think that there are breadcrumbs.
‘Law & Order: SVU’: So are Rollins and Carisi a thing? – Screener
Anyone who is interested will be able to pick up those breadcrumbs, but I think that is our writers' way of rewarding the fans who watch the show week in and week out and know what these characters have been going through, to give them some kind of a compass for what is happening behind the scenes. There are potentially huge consequences for colleagues who sleep together. Will we see any of those consequences play out over the rest of the season?
Will anyone in the squad find out? I'll put it this way: It's not a regular run-of-the-mill, 9-to-5 job.
It is a squad room full of inquisitive, instinctual detectives who have a nose for things being off. So what is happening behind the scenes may begin to pique certain characters' interests. But at the same time, you're dealing with a former undercover cop and a cop who's been undercover before in Amaro and Rollins, so they're pretty good at hiding as well. I think that is one of the things that I'm looking forward to in the coming episodes; to really find out whether it is ever revealed.
I don't know whether it's ever revealed, but I do know that we have very smart detectives all around us. The smallest slip-up could blow the whole roof off of it. Warren Leight has said that the season finale is a big episode for your character. What can you tease about what Amaro will be going through? In the finale, Amaro stands to lose not only his family, but his career.
And it could happen that quickly and that easily, and it's only his current friends and perhaps some very close friends from the past who he has to rely on to get him out of the situation. So will Laura Benanti return for that episode? Laura Benanti will be in the episode prior, in the penultimate episode.
'Law & Order: SVU': Detective Rollins Reveals Her Baby's Father
What can you say about Maria and Amaro's dynamic? He's positive and he feels that he is going to be able to bring his family back under the same roof ultimately. He's resolved to make that happen. He's one of those people, and I feel like maybe a lot of us are, that when things are crumbling around you, all you want to do is restore where you find the most peace at all costs.
That relationship with Maria and Zara, his daughter — they represent peace to him. Then again, he is not clear-eyed in his perception of what Maria's intentions are, which only leads to disappointment and for him to act out, which is what gets him in trouble in the finale. After Cassidy apologizes to Amaro for what his lawyer did, Cassidy helps Amaro bust the boyfriend for drug dealing.
The episode concludes with Amaro knocking on the woman's door, and her reluctantly letting him in. In "Born Psychopath", he is shot by a year-old boy while apprehending him for abusing a young girl. Amaro begins to show great concern when Rollins, a recovering gambling addictfalls off the wagon, and they grow closer.
In the episode "Reasonable Doubt", he comes out of a shower in Rollins' apartment, implying that they had been intimate. In "Holden's Manifesto", a murder suspect asks them if they are sleeping together; they do not answer the question, and change the subject. Amaro is arrested for assaulting a suspect, Simon Wilkes Joshua Malinawhile off duty. The charges are subsequently dropped, but he is demoted and reassigned to the th Precinct in Queens as a patrol officer.
However, Benson tells him that, because of his history of misconduct accusations, the NYPD will never promote him no matter how well he does; angered, Amaro throws his study materials in the garbage. Shortly thereafter, Amaro is involved in a courtroom shootout with Johnny Drake, a brutal sex trafficker and pimp who is also the biological father of Benson's adopted son.Rollins Opens Up to Benson - Law & Order: SVU (Episode Highlight)
Drake dies from his injuries, while Amaro is hit in the liver and knee.
